nservicebus has timeouts for saga's which are very useful in business terms. i would definitely favour this over designer vs support which is a hindrance, i.e. check out WWF

I have toyed with this very thing, but not sure that my initial approach (stateful states) was a wise choice. Would greatly appreciate some of your ideas.
